Working in conjunction with Dole and Kingspan, Powertech were asked to build a new fruit storage facility within an existing warehouse purchased by Dole. The half-dome roof presented a unique challenge when building the triple-compartment food-safe building totalling 940m2 and resulted in a unique design using a partial-pitch ceiling allowing for maximum room height and storage volume.
With a large throughput of material, estimated at over 50 tonnes per day, it was critical that temperatures were monitored accurately, with the ability to react quickly to increased loads in the arrival of new fruits to the store. Belimo valves were specifically chosen for this project due to their adaptability to fluctuating temperatures – resulting in an efficient and effective system working in conjunction with the 150kW Aermec chiller to provide only the duty required at any given time.
